March 18, 2011
STA. RITA — Provincial officials led by Governor Lilia Pineda led Thursday the inauguration of newly constructed P27-million municipal hall here that is expected to facilitate better government services to the people.
Pineda was joined by second district Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Sta. Rita Mayor Yolanda Pineda, Floridablanca Mayor Eduardo Guerrero, Porac Mayor Candralito dela Cruz, Butil Representative Agapito Guanlao and ALE Representative Catalina Bagasina.
Mayor Pineda, in an interview with Sun.Star Pampanga, said the two-storey facility has been expanded to house the various departments of the municipality, with fully air-conditioned offices for the benefit of employees and people availing of government services.
“This facility will now be able to address most of our needs and has added to the beauty of the landscape here,” Pineda said, stressing that the architectural design of the building has been made in a way that blends with the old Spanish architectural theme of the poblacion area.
The new facility also features function rooms, spacious installations of old Sta. Rita crafts and historical artifacts, while a gallery of portraits of the past chief executives of the town are also displayed at the second floor.
Governor Pineda said the building will now be able to facilitate better services to residents of the town.
Both officials also thanked Representative Arroyo for allocating the needed funds for the construction of the said building which began in the latter part 2010.
Representative Arroyo, for her part, said the building emphasizes the beauty of the Kapampangan and its place as a “living cultural museum.”
Sta. Rita is known as a sweet-tooth town, specializing in varieties of Spanish influenced delicacies. The town is the birthplace of the Duman Festival, which celebrates the native delicacy duman and the hometown of the cultural performing group ArtiSta.Rita.
