Town mayor receives Tourism Personality Award

CANDABA — Mayor Jerry Pelayo received the Tourism Personality Award given by the Rotary Club of Manila (RCM) in an awarding held last Thursday at the Manila Polo Club in Makati.
Robert Lim Joseph, chairman of the RCM Tourism Committee, cited Pelayo for the transformation of Candaba from a once-sleepy town into a top tourist destination.
Pelayo dedicated the new award to the hardworking Candabeรฑos who have done their share in all tourism activities, as well as environmental conservation and protection efforts implemented by the Municipal Government.
Candaba has become a favorite destination of both local and foreign birdwatchers, due to the influx of migratory birds coming from the neighboring countries in Asia and Europe.
Among other tourist attractions here are the Ibon-Ebon Festival, Pampanga River Cruise and bird watching at the Doรฑa Simang bird sanctuary.
The Tourism Personality Award was given by RCM with the help of Skal Club International, Tourism Educators and Movers (Team) Philippines, Ralph’s Wines and Spirits and Travel Cooperative of the Philippines.
