Fernandinas get orchids on Valentine’s Day
February15, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — As a tribute to all women employees of this city, Mayor Oscar Rodriguez gave them flowers on Monday, Valentine’s Day.
Rodriguez personally handed orchids to more than 200 women-employees, including policewomen and street sweepers of City Hall.
“This is one way of saying we love them, one way of encouraging them to go on in loving their constituents, loving their job, loving the less privileged, loving their husband and children among others,” Rodriguez said.
He added that he did not want City Hall employees to feel lonely during the heart’s day by not receiving flowers from anyone.
“This is for all of you since you are the reasons why there are songs and dreams in our hearts, because of your unwavering commitment in raising the quality of life of our people,” Rodriguez told the employees.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago became a “love guru” when he reminded employees who are still looking for romantic partners to pick the right person and maintain intimacy in their relationship.
City Administrator Ferdinand Caylao said everyone should make God their role model of love, as He gives unconditional love to everyone.
Rowee Freeman, city chief of staff, thanked Rodriguez and Santiago for their efforts in making Valentine’s Day special among City Hall employees.
Aside from the giving of flowers, the City Government also hosted a mass wedding during the afternoon, and a Valentine dinner gathering during nighttime. (Charlene Cayabyab)
