Biggest off-road race set in Pampanga
February 4, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The biggest off-road challenge is set to happen in the City of San Fernando as part of its 10th cityhood charter anniversary, or Kaganapan 2011.
Pampanga Off-Roaders Club Inc. (Porci) president John Sambo and Kaganapan 2011 executive committee chair and club co-founder Rene Romero bared this recently.
Sambo said the Ford Pampanga Off-Road Challenge set on February 5 at Gugu Dike will be the biggest in the country so far.
“We have about 90 confirmed racers from Davao, Cebu, Bicol, Isabela, Manila, Laoag, Angeles City, San Fernando and other parts of Luzon,” he told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Sambo described the off-road challenge as a unique team event never before seen in 4×4 races.
“It’s a team event where three racers would go for the finish line in one race. It’s going to be a mass start that will enthrall the audience,” he said, adding it would be Mayor Oscar Rodriguez who would do the “flag up and down.”
Sambo said racers are in for the P50,000 first prize, P30,000 second prize, and P20,000 third prize. (Jovi T. De Leon)
