Problem we are having with the (Clark) airport
My name is John Cummings (aka JC) from Margarita Station.
As a sideline to Margarita Station I started picking up tourists at NAIA in Manila over 18 years ago. We have never had a problem with this service.
Several years ago I started providing the same service at Clark. Starting in Nov 2010 our drivers started receiving threats from the taxi drivers and security personnel at the terminal. These threats became so significant on 30 Nov that we had to stop doing pick ups or drop offs. Not only is this causing inconvenience for tourists arriving and departing through DMIA, but they are being charged P500+ for a short ride to the main gate area.
Additionally, it is causing problems for large groups that are flying into Clark and then requiring a ride to catch connections out of NAIA. They currently must take 2 taxis for P1000+ to Margarita Station to transfer into a van that will take them to Manila. This increases the price for them from P2850 to P3850+ and has caused several groups to miss their connecting flights that we could have made if we picked them up and proceeded straight to the SCTEX/NLEX.
The bottom-line is many tourists that are using DMIA as a gateway are starting or finishing their trips with a bad experience because of this taxi mafia, while no such problems have ever existed at NAIA.
My partner Aida Mallari went to the local DOT and we got an partial exemption for 2 of our vehicles (one van and one service L-300), but the majority of the vehicles we contract for this service still can not go to the terminal for fear of having the vehicles impounded by security or threats of physical violence from the taxi drivers.
Anything you can do to help get this problem fixed would be appreciated.
