Labor agency, Capitol ink pact for schools-based Peso

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Central Luzon office and the Public Employment Services Office (Peso) signed Tuesday a memorandum of agreement institutionalizing Peso-based centers in pilot Pampanga schools.
The move is aimed at giving graduating students a shot at in-demand jobs.
The memorandum was signed during a luncheon at Bliss Hotel, where an optimistic Governor Lilia Pineda professed her all-out support for the Dole-Capitol partnership.
“This would ease the burden of our students in high school on what courses they would take up in college. For one, the Peso-based centers in schools would provide them the necessary advice and matching,” Peso chief Luningning Vergara told Sun.Star.
Calling it a major breakthrough, Vergara identified the pilot schools as Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University in Bacolor, Guagua National Colleges in Guagua, Pampanga Agricultural College in Magalang, and the University of the Assumption and St. Nicholas College in the City of San Fernando.
