Vietnam War hero to be buried in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT β A real Vietnam War hero, who decided to spend his remaining years in Angeles City, will be interred at the Clark Cemetery Thursday.
The 10 a.m. funeral of retired Sergeant Major Frederick Edward Smith, who died last January 12 at the age of 68, is expected to be the βbiggestβ the Clark Cemetery has ever had, according to officials of the Peregrine Development Int’l Inc.
Smith earned a Silver Star, a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars (w/V), a Legion of Merit, and an Air Medal during his career.
Smith entered the US Army in West Virginia and served as a member of the Special Forces.
A veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of VFW Post 2485, he retired after 30 years of service and lived in Carmenville Subdivision in Angeles City with his wife Maritess.
Prior to his burial, there will be a Special Forces memorial service to be conducted by CSM Jeff Raker followed by a traditional graveside service to be conducted by the VFW Post 2485. (Sun.Star Pampanga)
