January 20, 2011
ANGELES CITY — Two persons carrying a gun and a knife while on board a motorcycle were arrested in Barangay Malabanias early Wednesday.
The suspects were identified as Elvin Huesca Balente, 30, single, a security guard of Saint Anthony Subdivision, Sindalan, City of San Fernando; and Wilhelm Barrera Flores, 35, married, also a security guard, and a resident of Purok 5B, Barangay Pampang this city.
Balente and Huesca were arrested when they avoided a team of policemen conducting a checkpoint at the said village.
Chief Inspector Luisito M. Tan, Police Station 4 chief, said the two are involved in a series of street robberies perpetrated by suspected “riders-in-tandem.”
Balente and Huesca were charged with robbery after they were identified by Caltex employees as the ones who robbed the gas station recently.
According to Tan, several victims of robbery appeared at said police station Wednesday morning and identified Balente and Huesca, and bared plans of filing charges against the suspects.
Both Central Luzon police director Allan La Madrid Purisima and Angeles City police director Danilo Bautista ordered for a crackdown against criminal elements “riding in tandem.”
