Carjackers shoot trader dead
December 23, 2010
CAMP OLIVAS – A businessman died after unidentified armed men shot him and took his brand new car in front of his house in Arayat town Monday night.
Senior Superintendent Petronio Retirado, Pampanga police provincial director, identified the fatality as Arsenio Pangilinan, 56, of Purok 1, Barangay Baliti.
Investigations said that Pangilinan and his family came from a party prior to the incident.
The victim was coming out from his Mitsubishi Montero when five unidentified armed men, on board a silver Honda Civic without license plate numbers, arrived.
Three of the suspects, Retirado said, disembarked from their car and directly boarded the victimโs vehicle.
Reports said Pangilinan tried to prevent the suspects from taking his car and from harming his family, but one of the suspects shot him.
The suspects then took the victimโs vehicle and fled towards Barangay Palinlang, also in Arayat town.
The victim was immediately taken to the Angeles University Foundation Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor due to severe gunshot wounds in his back.
Retirado has ordered the Arayat Police to identify and arrest the carjackers. (Ric Sapnu)
