December 22, 2010
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Aspiring journalists, their advisers and city division officials from all over Central Luzon on Monday evening got the chance to meet Mayor Oscar Rodriguez for a dinner and fellowship at the Mini-Convention Center of Heroes in an affair dubbed “Mayor’s Night.”
The socials were part of the ongoing 32nd Regional Schools Press Conference 2010, which the city is hosting. The annual press conference for elementary and high school students opened on December 19 and will culminate on December 22.
City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. May Eclar told Sun.Star Pampanga that close to 3,000 students are vying for titles in news, sports, essay and feature writing, among others, for the chance to represent the region in the national press conference early next year.
“These are all from city divisions like Olongapo, Malolos, Cabanatuan, San Jose, and many more across the region. There are about 3,000 participants, including their advisers and city division officials,” she said.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, warmly welcomed the delegates to the city.
In his remarks, the mayor said that education is the top advocacy and program of the city government, to ensure the youth’s bright future, employment, and a decent life. (Jovi T. De Leon)
