CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A total of 170 families will benefit from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)’s P14-million core shelter program, which is set to start by January next year.
Adelaida Apostol, regional secretary of the DSWD, said they are already in the process of finalizing the documents prior to the launching of the said assistance program specifically designed for the landslide victims in Arayat town.
Mayor Luisito Espino, during the formal blessing of the bunkhouses intended for the Arayat landslide victims the other day, announced the approval of the funding for the said core shelter program.
“We are expecting the funds to be turned-over by January so that the beneficiaries can start building their homes,” Apostol said.
Apostol explained that 170 families will receive P70,000 each, which they will use to procure materials for building their houses, the lot for which was donated by third district Congressman Aurelio Gonzales.
“This will be done through community assembly,” she said.
Aside from the cash donation, Apostol said the beneficiaries will also receive allowances for food and clothing amounting to P250 a day.
“We are hoping that the construction of these permanent structures will be finished within the first quarter of the year,” she said. (Ria de Fiesta)
