Pampanga guv calls for unity

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia Pineda on Thursday called on all local officials to forge strong executive-legislative ties to achieve the province’s and the city’s objectives.

During the oath-taking of the new set of officers of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines-Pampanga Chapter, Pineda said government programs will be successful if there is unity and cooperation among council members.

“Kasi pag nakita naman nila na tama at maganda iyung mga programa at gagawin mo at hindi ka nakikiusap sa kanila ng baluktot at hindi tama, susuporta lahat sa iyo (If the members will see the benefits of your programs and you ask their help in good faith, they will surely cooperate and give their support),” Pineda said.

Among the priority programs all local officials must give attention to include health, education and solid waste management.

The Pineda administration has ushered in the Capitol model of executive legislative cooperation, which has so far proven effective in accomplishing the many targets and programs of the Provincial Government, Pineda said.

“Sana ganoon din sa mga mayors, vice mayors at mga Sangguniang Bayan nila. Ang importante dito, iyung mga programa mo, lahat ay magbe-benefit, lalo na iyung mahihirap (I hope it works the same with the mayors, vice mayors and the municipal councils. Another important thing is your program, which should benefit everyone, especially the poor),” the governor added.

Pineda said that in governance, whether it is on the municipal level or at province, unity is essential. (Jovi T. De Leon)
