P1.7-B for Pampanga 2013 budget on track

CITY OF SAN FERNANDOโ€“The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is set to approve the proposed annual budget of P1.7 billion for 2013 mainly intended for the development projects of the province, Senior Board Member Cris Garbo of the First District said during the yearly โ€œUlat Kapitolioโ€ held at Fontana Convention Center in Clark Freeport.
Garbo, chair of the Committee on Appropriation, said the budget which was approved by his committee would support the commitment of the governor in uplifting the lives of the poor and for countryside development.
He disclosed that the bigger pie of the P1.7-billion budget will be used for the infrastructure projects particularly in the upgrading of roads and improvement of hospitals.
The senior board member said Pineda will empower the provincial hospital, nine district hospitals and one surgical hospital through strengthening their capabilities, provision of enough medical equipment, construction of more buildings and other facilities.
โ€œThe good relationship of the provincial executive and legislative branches of the provincial government has paved the way for more infrastructure development and comprehensive delivery of social and health services to the people in need,โ€ Garbo said.
Garbo said they have also allotted budget for flood mitigation projects as the province is perennially visited by floods.
โ€œWe will use the budget for mitigation projects to lessen, if not eradicate, the destruction brought by floods such as construction of evacuation centers, strengthening of earth dikes and other related infra projects that would help prevent destructions during calamities,โ€ Garbo added. โ—โ€“Elaine Mercado
