No turning back for Bataan House seat—Onemig

MARIVELES, Bataan—Actor-turned-businessman Juan Miguel “Onemig” Bondoc categorically stated that there will be no turning back for him as congressional candidate of Bataan’s Second District.
The former actor issued the statement following the resurgence of the unification talks in the province floated this time by former Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Chairman Felicito “Tong” Payumo.
Two weeks ago, the former SBMA chairman appealed to major political candidates in Bataan to still try going into political unification or coalition.
“We want to have a political coalition upang mabago ang sistema ng pulitika sa Bataan para hindi masyadong magastos at scandalous,” he said during a dialogue in Balanga City with political leaders and local reporters.
Nevertheless, the former Bataan First District congressman said that he is not saying that he will not run. Candidates for the next year elections can still substitute until December 21.
The unification talks here started more than three months ago between the Garcias and former governor Ding Roman, Bataan Fisrt District Congresswoman Herminia Roman, Vice Governor Bonjong Pascual and Payumo on the other side.
Bataan Governor Enrique Garcia is the father of Bataan Second District Congressman Albert Garcia and Balanga City Mayor Joet Garcia.
In the series of the unification talks, former governor Roman and Payumo were actually the active and persevering in meeting with the Garcias.
However, in an unexpected twist in the last days of the filing of the certificates of candidacy, the Garcias, Congresswoman Roman and Pascual were the ones who unified.
Bondoc will be facing in the congressional bout Governor Garcia and former governor Roman.
It will be remembered that Bondoc was originally planning to run vice governor in tandem with Pascual.
“Many people encouraged me to run instead as congressman. I listened to them for they are my boss and not the politicians in the province,” said Bondoc.
“If politicians in the province want to unify, it is up to them. But nothing will stop me now to continue my fight in the second congressional district of the province,” he assured.
The former actor, who traces his roots in Abucay town, currently resides in this town where he’s a registered voter.
