Woman loses P300,000 to scam artist
CAMP OLIVAS — A wife of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Tarlac City lost P300,000 from โBudol-Budolโ gang, police reported Monday.
In a report here, Senior Superintendent Alfredo Corpus, Tarlac police provincial director, said Nenita Rosario, 60, of Don Pepe Conjuangco Homes, Barangay Sta. Catalina in Tarlac City and her housemaid, a certain Hellen Barrachea, 44, were walking inside SM Tarlac when they were approached by an unidentified male and female.
The male suspect told Rosario he was a friend of her son, who is in Saudi. He introduced his companion as his โwifeโ who was also a doctor.
After a few minutes of conversation, the suspects invited Rosario and her housemaid to board their van which was at the SM Tarlac City parking lot.
For unknown reasons, the suspects convinced the victims to show them the victimโs passbook and transact a bank withdrawal in exchange for P90,000 cash.
The victim, her maid, and the suspects proceeded to the RCBC bank located in Robinsons Luisita in Barangay San Miguel, Tarlac City and withdrew P300,000.
The suspects and the victims returned to the van, with the money placed in a small bag. The victim and her housemaid were even invited to have snacks at a fastfood chain.
After a while, the female suspect and her male companion left the victims inside the fastfood chain, leaving the bag atop the table.
When the victim checked the bag, she only discovered that it contained assorted bundles of papers. The suspectsโ van was also nowhere to be found.
The Tarlac police requested the RCBC bank and the fastfood chain for a copy of their CCTV footage for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
