Ex-cop joins race for mayor

• CANDABA — A retired police official manifested recently his desire to participate in the race of mayor here in the coming 2013 elections.
Retired police superintendent Rommel Salac, a former chief of police of San Miguel Bulacan, is the fourth person to manifest his interest to join the political race in this town.
Earlier, Patrick Pelayo, the son of Mayor Jerry “Kuyang Jerry” Pelayo and founder of the “Anak ng Candaba” party, has been groomed to replace his father as municipal chief executive.
Others believed that the younger Pelayo is lucky for having stable political machinery.
He enjoyed the loyalty of most of the village officials who have been avid supporters of “Kuyang Jerry” for three consecutive terms.
Former Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) assistant secretary Rene Maglanque likewise confirmed that he is running for mayor next elections.
He previously claimed that local leaders are already in place and have thrown all out support to his candidacy.
Maglanque has already served the people of Candaba as councilor in 1992 and Board Member of Pampanga in 1998.
Another candidate to consider is Reynaldo Sagum, who already established networks after participating in the mayoralty race in 2010.
Sagum got at least 14,685 votes compared to 19,447 of Mayor Pelayo. He was behind by only less than five thousand votes to “Kuyang Jerry.”
