Bulakenyo swimmer sasagupa sa London Olympics
MALOLOS CITY—Kumpirmado ng makakalahok sa London Olympics sa Agosto ang Bulakenyong manlalangoy na si Jessie Khing Lacuna.
Dahil dito, abala si Lacuna sa mga paghahanda para sa kanyang pagtatangka na makapag-uwi ng medalya.
Sa isang email na ipinadala ng manlalangoy sa mamamahayag na ito noong Sabado, Hunyo 2, ipinahayag niya na isang malaking karangalan na maging kinatawan ng bansa sa Olympics na isinasagawa tuwing ika-apat na taon.
Gayunpaman, inamin niya na ang kanyang pananabik ay may kahalong kaba.
“First, I need to handle the pressure, kasi yan yung pinaka big deal,” ani Lacuna at iginiit pa na, “after that the fitness, also need to add some new routines.”
Sa edad na 18-taong gulang, si Lacuna ang itinuturing na pinakamabilis na manlalangoy sa bansa ngayon.

Hinggil sa kanyang napipintong pakikipagtunggali sa mga pinakamahuhusay na manlalangoy sa buong mundo, nagpahayag ng positibong pananaw ang Bulakenyong manlalangoy.
“It’s the Olympics, anything can happen,” aniya.
Para naman sa mga kabataang manlalaro, ipinayo niya na pagbutihin ang pagsasanay at laging makinig sa payo ng mga coach o tagapagsanay.
“If you want to achieve your dreams and goals, train hard and listen to you coach. Don’t stop believing in yourself,” aniya.
Idinagdag pa niya ang simpleng paalala na, “dapat masaya ka sa ginagawa mo.”
Sa katatapos na Philippine Sports Commission National Games na isinagawa sa Lungsod ng Dumaguete noong huling linggo ng Mayo, muling humakot ng limang medalyang ginto si Lacuna.
Namayani siya sa 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter freestyle,400-meter at 1,500-meter freestyle; at 200-meter medley.
Si Lacuna ay isinilang at lumaki sa bayan ng Pulilan kung saan siya natutong lumangoy sa swimming pool sa batang edad.
Ayon sa kanyang ama na si Marcelo, tatlong buwan pa lamang si Jessie nang lagyan nila ito ng floating arm ban sa braso sa swimming pool.
Sa pagkakataong iyon, napansin ni Marcelo na panay sikad sa tubig ng anak, kaya’t unti-unti niya itong tinuruang lumangoy.
Sa edad na limang taon, ang batang Lacuna ay isinali sa panglalawigang paligsahan sa paglangoy bilang “saling pusa.”
Ngunit sa kabila ng kanyang batang edad ay tinalo niya ang mga manlalangoy na mas matanda sa kanya.
Ang problema ay nang hingin at hanapin ng batang Lacuna ang medalyang kanyang napanalunan.
Ayon sa kanyang ama, matagal din niyang ipinaliwanag sa anak na hindi siya talaga kasali sa paligsahan, sa halip ay isang “saling pusa” lamang.
Nang sumunod na taon, hindi napigil ang batang Lacuna sa paglahok sa mga paligsahan, at sa pagkakataon na iyon ay opisyal na siyang kasali.
Mula noon, hindi na tumigil ang batang Lacuna sa paghakot ng medalya sa bawat paligsahang sinalihan.
