Clark Freeport Zone is the ideal venue for multiple equestrian activities and horse-related events more than elsewhere in the country. Clark Freeport Zone, formerly known as Clark Air Base is strategically located in the first-class and highly urbanized city of Angeles, Pampanga. With approximately 30,000 hectares, the place is equipped with modern infrastructure facilities, professional support services, perceptibly inviting amenities and high-end IT enabled industries
Horse riders, equestrian fanatics, sports enthusiasts, industry leaders from banking, IT, academe, and entertainment all over the Philippines will gather for the first time to witness and be part of the enormous annual event dubbed as Horse Fest β09 scheduled on November 28-29, 2009 in Clark Freeport Zone, Angeles, Pampanga, wherein simultaneous equestrian competitions and other horse-related activities will be expected.
Highlights during the two-day event are the Grand Parade of horses, Show Jumping, Dressage, Polo, Tillbury, and Carriage Rides.
Show Jumping, an event wherein you cleanly jump obstacles be it verticals, combinations and spreads within the allotted time. Dressage is a French term meaning Training, which aims to test the level of training of horse and rider. It is also known as Horse Ballet. Polo, a team sport where one team tries to outscore the other by shooting goals at their opponents end. A team is composed of Four (4) players each; they will hit the ball with wooden mallets while on horseback that most of the time while on full gallop. Tillbury or harness Racing is a race wherein the horse pulls a two (2) wheeled cart called Sulkies in a specific gait. Carriage Rides is a riding experience for spectators around Stotsenburg Parade ground.
Horse Fest β09 will give participants a vivid view and viable experience of a westernized environment in the northern part of the country, where everything is in parallel with horses. This event is expected to collectively draw not only sports fans but also family spectators from diverse classes.
Aside from the fascinating equestrian activities, there will also be a trade fair designed to be enjoyed by everyone, from young to young -at-heart. They will seize fun activities, product sampling and selling offered by the exhibitors. This will be open to public but tickets will also be for sale at a very reasonable price for those who want to be privileged of food, freebies and dedicated seat for one day. Participants will also have the chance to roam around, socialize, interact with others and endure other fun-filled and superb activities that the place can offer during the night.
For those who want adventure, registration of participants will be a day before the event. The event will officially kick-off with a grand parade of horses and will be enlivened by a wonderful fireworks display when night time comes. Awarding of winners for the various competitions will transpire on the last night of the 2-day event.
This remarkable event is organized by Greater Clark Visitors Bureau (GCVB) in cooperation with Clark Freeport Tourism Association (CFTA) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) to further boost tourism, to prop up business and to promote Clark as among the best alternatives for family leisure activity through building hype that Clark Freeport Zone is an ideal venue for multiple equestrian events. This event is gearing up towards the lifestyle of every Filipino which will make Clark renowned for.
