P7-M marijuana seized in Pampanga
Some P7 million worth of dried marijuana leaves were confiscated in a buy-bust operation in Mabalacat, Pampanga that also resulted in the arrest of three members of a syndicate that supplies the illegal items in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
Director Samuel Pagdilao, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said his men chanced upon the suspects after they agreed to sell dried marijuana leaves to a police agent.
He identified those arrested as Catherine Lamog, 44, of Bontoc, Mt. Province; Julie Baggas, 37, of Mainit, Bontoc; and Yolanda Adaol, 42, of Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
βThey are all members of the Kamot Group which is responsible in the transportation and distribution of marijuana from illegal plantations in Mountain Province to Central Luzon, Metro Manila and in Southern Tagalog,β said Pagdilao.
The operation was carried out in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga. Seized from them were 164 pieces of dried marijuana bricks worth P6.9 million
βWith their arrest, we expect that there will be a huge reduction of supply of these illegal drugs particularly in their market in Angeles City, in Metro Manila and Cavite City,β said Pagdilao.
Appropriate charges are now being readied against the suspects.
