Man kills friend, commits suicide
MABALACAT β A 37-year-old man has killed his friend, kept the body inside his car for a day and eventually shot himself to death.
In a report, Superintendent Rolly Mendoza, police officer-in-charge, said the bodies of Gidion Panganiban, married, a resident of Mawaque Resettlement Center here and his friend Arvin Ampong, 25, of Quezon City were found bathing in their own blood inside a Mitsubishi last Friday.
Residents and tricycle drivers near the area called the attention of the police after noticing the seemly abandoned car at San Raphael Subdivision in Barangay Mabiga here.
When the team led by Senior Inspector Jowen Dela Cruz responded to the scene, they discovered the bodies of Panganiban and Ampong inside the heavily tinted car, with bullet wounds on the chest and head, respectively.
A brother of one of the victims, Eduardo Panganiban, 47, of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, told police investigators that around 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, they received a phone call from Gidion that he shot and killed his friend.
At around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Gidion called his relatives again and told them that he will not surrender to authorities and will just commit suicide.
In the afternoon of the same day, Gidionβs relatives went to his residence at Mawaque Resettlement Center but he was not around.
Police theorized that Gidion was shocked at what he did to Ampong and did not know what to do with the latterβs body, which he kept at the backseat of his car for about 24 hours. It was believed that Gidion decided to shoot himself on the chest because of desperation.
Investigators found a .22 magnum handgun inside the car with two empty shells
