Guv to create pool of med-specialist

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO β€” Governor Lilia Pineda said Friday she is now set on creating a pool of medical specialists to be deployed in various district hospitals here.
The move is to complete the services offered by government hospitals here that have been declared as economic enterprises by the Provincial Government.
This is in answer to the need to offset the yearly P250 million for the operation of the hospitals which are not yet self-sustaining.
β€œAmong the reasons we see why our hospitals are not earning is the fact that we lack all the doctors and services that are needed for the full operation of our hospitals,” Pineda said, adding that the move will also give people in the province access to medical experts in government hospitals.
Pineda said some district hospitals lack specialists like gynecologists and radiologists, among others, who could be filled up by abolishing 116 vacant positions in various district hospitals.
Compensation, however, is still being studied by Pineda’s team in compliance with the policies of the Department of Budget and Management and the Salary Standardization law.
The medical specialists will be deployed in various hospitals depending of the current need of local patients. This is in compliance with the move of the Pampanga Provincial Government to improve medical services.
Pineda said the medical team will also be asked to service indigents in many medical missions of the Provincial Government.
The move is expected to draw in more patients who would rather go to private hospitals because of the lack of necessary services and equipment in government hospitals.
Recently, Pineda has started a series of improvements and construction of hospital facilities all over the province.
