World war victims still cry out for justice

VICTIMS of the World War II obliged imperialist Japan to apologize for its vindictive crimes.
Four nations, namely Korea, Taiwan, China and Philippines, united and strongly called on Japan government to apologize for what its past administrations did to them during the war.
Korean representative Im Hyunjin said the division of his country into South and North is due to Japanโs manipulation during the war.
He said Korea was then used as a military base supply of Japan. They were conquered and were abused by Japan. The Koreans had to leave the country to seek better life.
โOthers went to Russia while some went to China. When they came back after the war, the government system was [already] divided into two, with communists (from China) and the democrats who came from some part of Russia,โ said Hyunjin.
The situation ended in a divided nation with differing governing systems.
Hyunjin added that most of the Korean women were used by Japan as comfort women abroad. โThe survivors of this disgraceful history are now seniors and some are crazy. They need at least an apology from Japan before they will die. And it is but proper for Japan to apologize.โ
Meanwhile, Chinese Charles Cheng witnessed the bombing of Camp John Hay in 1941, five hours after the Pearl Harbor was bombed. He grew up in the country with his business in Baguio City.
โI saw three Filipinos who were massacred by Japanese soldiers in Camp John Hay. They cut the heads off, gunned and burnt alive the Filipinos,โ said Cheng.
Cheng said he saw how Japan tortured Filipinos in Camp John Hay.
โWe better stop making war. But in order to do it, we have to search for what makes the war happened and who profits from the war,โ said Taiwanese Chikasi Furukawa.
He is a professor of the National Taiwan University who joined Philippines in the commemoration of the AsiaโPacific war in Itogon last week.
The countryโs representatives showed different documentaries on the Japanese regime in the country. Through simple acts, they were able to show how Japan manipulated Philippines during the World War II.
Among the documentaries is โProject 66โ directed and made by Dave Montes under the Research Mate Incorporation. It showed off the untold history of the Igorots during the war.
Despite the memories of the Japanese cruelty, these nations are hoping for a peace pact with Japan. But before the peace pact, they need to hear directly from the Japanese government a simple apology or any compensation they could give to the victims. (Rubyloida Bitog)
