Binay awards land titles to Mabalacat residents

MABALACAT — Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chair Jejomar Binay led Friday the distribution of more than 300 Transfer Certificates of Titles (TCTs) to residents of Mawaque resettlement center.
Binay said some 1,317 TCTs were already distributed to qualified families in Mawaque, which were affected by Mount Pinatubo eruptions.
โ€œSa hindi po nakaaalam, ang Mauaque ang pinakaunang resettlement project na ginawa sa pamumuno ng Mt. Pinatubo Commission (MPC). Mula sa simula ng proyektong ito, 1,317 titulo na ang naipamahagi sa mga pamilya rito,โ€ Binay said. The Mauaque resettlement site occupies an area of 50.20 hectares. It was purchased in 1994 and implemented in 1995 by the Mount Pinatubo Commission (MPC). A total of 3,050 lots/units were generated for this project and 2,482 families were found to be qualified for lot award based on approved Guidelines on Disposition by the Mount Pinatubo Commission.
These settlers came from barangays Dolores, Cacutud, Sta. Ines, Tabun, San Joaquin, Mamatitang and others.
Aside from the Mawaque settlers, some 66 residents from the nearby Camachiles resettlement center also received TCTs from Binay.
Binay urged the awardees not to sell or use as collateral for loans their land titles.
โ€œBukod sa hindi katanggap-tanggap ang gawaing iyan, kinakawawa nโ€™yo rin ang inyong sarili. Hindi biro ang inyong pinagdaanan upang matawag ninyo ang tahanan na sa inyo na. Tapos, bigla lamang mawawala?โ€ Binay said.

โ€œNaghirap tayo pareho — pamahalaan at mamamayan — upang makita ang kaganapan ng proyektong ito. Huwag nating hayaang mauwi sa wala,โ€ he added.
Binay said the resettlement has basic amenities such as water system and power supply.
โ€œGanitong uri ng development ang gusto din naming mangyari sa ibang resettlement sites. Maayos ang mga bahay at kumpleto sa basic facilities gaya ng eskuwelahan, police station, talipapa at day care center,โ€ he added.
Binay also vowed that the HUDCC and NHA will continue the awarding of TCTs to qualified families.
โ€œAsahan po ninyo na sunod-sunod na po ang pamamahagi namin ng titulo basta lamang gagampanan ninyo sa tamang panahon ang inyong buwanang obligasyon sa pagbabayad ng inyong bahay,โ€ he added.
Mabalacat Mayor Marino Morales thanked Binay for facilitating the awarding of land titles to the residents of the two resettlement sites.
โ€œMalaking bagay para sa ating mga kababayan ang matanggap nila ang kanilang mga titulo sa bahay,โ€ Morales said.
