Lawmaker releases fund for IT scholars

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO β€” Representative Aurelio β€œDong” Gonzales Jr. (3rd District, Pampanga) released over the weekend P695,000 for various student scholars of Visualcom Computer Science and Technology Inc.
Vice President for Operations and Scholarships Program Dr. Joseline Ponio of Visualcom Computer Science and Technology Inc. lauded Gonzales for shouldering the P5,000 tuition needs of each 139 beneficiaries.

Ponio said with the help of Gonzales, students can now have a better future and can continue their studies.
He added that most of the beneficiaries come from indigent families in different towns of the third district.
Visualcom Computer Science and Technology Inc. is an Information Technology school accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
Gonzales, for his part, said the new scholars will be part of his growing number of Iskolar ng Dong beneficiaries.
He said that he believes in the promotion of information technology courses as good career opportunities for students.
β€œIT has been a stable sector in the past years. Even in the next 10 years, most business sector leaders are bullish that IT will still form part of the sunshine industries of the country that can provide a steady number of employment opportunities,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales also urged the students to increase their skills and technological knowledge by joining seminars and skills development programs.
The lawmaker said the employability of graduates of IT courses also depend on the wealth of skills that they can bring into the workplace.
Gonzales said the vocational courses being funded under the scholarship program with Visualcom is among the latest scholarship offerings under his scholarship program which he plans to extend to other vocational courses in different sectors.
