Sports club holds blood-letting

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Cabalen Sports Club led by businessman and civic leader Alfrito “Bong” Mah conducted a blood-letting campaign early morning Saturday, in cooperation with the Philippine Red Cross-Angeles City Chapter and the Rotary Club of San Fernando to boost the supply of blood in cases of emergency.
Mah told Sun.Star Pampanga that the 50
-strong sports club, composed mainly of beyond 50s enthusiasts, wanted to help the Red Cross in its drive.
Every Saturday morning, the group leads other younger groups in well care at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex.
“It was actually timed for a well-being and health awareness project a private firm is doing. We thought it was wise to tap into our members and other health buffs to donate blood, that’s why the campaign,” he told Sun.Star Pampanga.
He added that there was no actual “quota” as to the volume of blood volunteers would donate, as the campaign was meant to help the Red Cross in its drive to boost its blood blank nationwide.
“We are part of it and the Cabalen Sports Club would assist in any way we can,” Mah said.
