Non-smokers asked to stand up against smokers

THE Philippine Medical Association asked the non-smokers to stand up against smokers, asserting they should fight for their rights to health and cleaner air.
Non-smokers should not just rely on law-enforcement agents to apprehend those caught smoking in places where it is disallowed, said PMA president Dr. Oscar Tinio.
“We, the non-smokers of the Philippines, should not only rely on law enforcers to effectively implement the anti-smoking law in public places. We should stand up and take action by insisting on our basic right not to be exposed to this poison that is uselessly being propagated by smoking addicts in public places,” he said.
“If a smoker insists that they are entitled to their poison, then let the non-smoker politely confront the smoker and ask him directly not to endanger needlessly the life of the non-smoker by exposing them to second-hand and even third-hand smoke, most especially in public places,” he added.
Although he noted the success of current efforts against smoking, these policies should not only be solely relied upon by the public, Tinio said.
“Let us help our government enforcers there to implement the law by reminding those who smoke in public places about the dangers of smoking not only to themselves but to others around them as well,” said Tinio.
To further promote its anti-smoking advocacy, the 70,000-strong umbrella organization of medical doctors is set to lead a “people empowerment rally” in Quezon City this Saturday to drum up the calls for non-smokers to “unite and fight for their undeniable right” for clean air.

There are numerous opportunities for investments between US$100,000 and $500,000. These opportunities are especially attractive for semi-retirement lifestyles. The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business – a locator as business in Clark is called – so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries. The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route. Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.

Clark Freeport is one of the most attractive business propositions the Philippines has to offer for investors in many kinds of businesses from BPO, hospitality, resorts and leisure facilities to condos, retirement homes, restaurants, bars and shops.
