Trader robbed, killed
A BUSINESSWOMAN was robbed and killed in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental on Sunday night, the police said.
PO2 Jay Carinhay of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office (PPO) identified the victim as Charito Co, 50, who was shot by a still unidentified suspect along Valmores Road, Barangay 1 in Balingasag town, around 7 p.m.
Carinhay said the suspect took P100,000 from Co.
The victim was immediately rushed to Balingasag District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. She succumbed to three gunshot wounds in the head, chest and arm from a 9mm pistol.
Initial investigation showed that Co was on her way home on board a trisikad from her store when the suspect blocked the trisikad, pointed her with a gun and grabbed her bag.
Co attempted to fight back and refused to give her bag, prompting the robber to shoot her three times. The suspect later took her bag.
Carinhay said the suspect, who was wearing sleeveless shirt and short pants, walked calmly to a waiting motorcycle with no plate number and fled to an unknown direction.
Investigation on the case is still ongoing, Carinhay told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
