CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Northville 14 Integrated School in Barangay Calulut here will soon get additional 35 classrooms plus a multi-purpose covered court courtesy of the City Government and the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, who led the turnover of four new classrooms to Department of Education and school officials, announced this Wednesday.
The mayor also distributed school supplies to students of the new integrated school, where 4,560 elementary and high school students are enrolled.
“The additional classrooms will be housed into two three-storey buildings where the high school department will be separated. There will also be a covered court courtesy of NHA plus the whole campus will be fenced for security. Northville 14 Integrated School is the first of its kind in the city where we have all levels starting from grade one to first year high school,” said Rodriguez.
He told students, parents and school officials to support the City Government’s educational programs to allow youth, especially the poorest of the poor, to finish their studies.
“No one should stop schooling at dapat na itaguyod ang edukasyon,” Rodriguez added.
Northville 14 is home to some 6,000 relocatee-families, who according to Community Affairs Division chief Donny Sayre, are being provided with basic services, including education and livelihood.
Northville 14 Integrated School officer-in-charge Ariel Garcia said the school currently has 28 classrooms. The additional rooms will provide great relief to students who come from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Families there have been relocated from areas affected by the Sagip Ilog and North Rail projects.
City Division Schools Superintendent May Eclar, meanwhile, said an additional 23 school board teachers, part of the 187 being tapped to augment the lack of teachers, will be posted at the relocation site.
She said the budget for educational support will come from the city’s special education fund.
