RARE do we see a public official as hands-on as the one steering Pampanga’s helm right now. One word to describe her would be “committed”. But to many, she is more than that; she is as dedicated to her work as one can be.
People sometimes think she’s doing too much already. But what is too much for Gov. Lilia Pineda? Nothing is too much for her, as long as she is helping the Kapampangans.
She has incredibly done a lot of things some public officials have not. For one, she dared trek Mt. Pinatubo with 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, not minding the heat of the sun and the steep trail.
She has led the planting of trees in the name of environmental conservation. Once she is set to reach her goal of conserving Mother Nature, not even Mr. Sun could stop her.
For a number of times, she has visited the mountainous Barangay Nabuclod in Floridablanca town where she not only visited Aetas, but also gave them a meal, a haircut, and a bath.
At the provincial Capitol where she holds office, she has listened to every dilemma of the so-called Monday crowd. She gives them what they need, whether material or monetary. She shoulders some sick constituents’ hospital bills, unmindful of the cost.
Aside from her generosity, she is also a good leader. Under her administration, quarry revenues have peaked to P238 million as of last count.
These are but a few of her good deeds. There are more, and there will be more. Can you imagine a governor doing these in the name of public service?
