ANGELES CITY — The City Government, in cooperation with the Knights of Rizal, has paid tribute to Jose Rizal during the hero’s 150th birth anniversary.
The tribute was made during the flag raising ceremony, which was attended by the city officials and employees and delegates from the Knights of Rizal.
City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan said the youth, whom Dr. Rizal believes to be the hope of the fatherland, should not be satisfied with merely knowing the works of the national hero.
The youth, he added, should lead lives inspired by Rizal’s works.
Famed builder Reghis Romero, who is currently the Acting Supreme Commander of Knights of Rizal, lamented how the youth seem to have little knowledge about the works of Rizal.
He emphasized the need for everyone to look into and appreciate the important role that Rizal has played in the country’s history.
Pamintuan and Romero led other officials in the wreath laying ceremony, which was participated in by representatives from a total of 11 chapters of Knights of Rizal.
Among the Knights of Rizal officers who took part in the brief program are Tropang Crime Watch head Reynaldo Malig, Poet Laureate Jaspe Dula, Police Superintendent July Caligagan and mediamen led by Rizal Policarpio.
A dance rendition was done by Peter A. De Vera of the Sinukwan Performing Arts, prior to the singing of the national anthem.
