Aquino: Magligtas ng buhay, mag-donate ng dugo!

NOONG Martes, June 14, 2011, ay idineklara ng World Health Organization ang malawakang paggunita sa Blood Donor’s Day upang itaas ang kamalayan ng bawat isa sa kahalagan ng pagdo-donate ng dugo. Dito ay binigyang-pugay ang lahat ng blood donors dahil sa kanilang boluntaryong pagbibigay ng dugo nang walang hinihintay na anumang kapalit mula sa mga pinag-uukulan nito.

Napakahalaga ng dugo sa bawat tao. Lahat tayo ay mayroon nito at lahat din tayo ay may pangangailangan dito. Ang dugo ang nagdadala ng oxygen at sustansiya sa bawat bahagi ng ating katawan. Ito rin ang nagdadala ng carbon dioxide at waste products pabalik sa ating mga baga, bato at atay para naman ay ilabas ng ating katawan.

Kada segundo sa buong mundo ay may nangangailangan ng dugo gaya ng mga sumasailalim sa surgery, mga naaksidente, may leukemia at dengue, at iba pa. Lahat sila ay nangagailangan ng agarang pagsasalin ng dugo upang maitawid at madugtungan ang kanilang buhay. Halimbawang darating ang pagkakataon na tayo naman ang mangangailangan, sumagi na ba sa ating isipan kung saan at kanino tayo tatakbo para humingi ng dugo? Hindi ba ang una nating naiisip ay kung sino ang papayag mag-donate ng kanyang dugo para sa atin?

 

Alam ba ninyo na ang isang tao na may malusog na pangangatawan ay maaaring mag-donate ng dugo isang beses kada tatlong buwan? At sa bawat isang (1) pint ng dugo na inyong maibigay ay may tatlong buhay na maisasalba? Ito ay patunay na napakahalaga ng ginagampanang papel ng bawat blood donor.

Ito rin ay walang masamang epekto sa ating katawan bagkus ito pa nga ay makakatulong para maging malusog.

Ang blood donation ay isang paraan para mabawasan ang excess iron sa katawan na nakukuha dahil sa over consumption. Ang sobrang iron sa katawan ay nakapagpapataas ng formulation ng free radicals na nagiging sanhi ng pinsala sa body cells at tissues. Ang free radicals na ito ay kalimitang naiuugnay sa mga sakit tulad ng heart disease at cancer.

Bukod diyan, alam ba ninyo na ang pagsasalin ng dugo o blood transfusion ay kabilang na sa outpatient benefits na binabayaran ng PhilHealth? Kasama sa maaaring bayaran ng PhilHealth ay mga gamot mula P9,000 hanggang P14,000, X-ray and laboratory exams mula P5,000 hanggang P10,500, at operating room subsidy mula P500 hanggang P1,200.

Binabayaran din ng PhilHealth ang professional fee. P400 para sa general practitioner, P480 naman sa mga GP na mayroong training, at P560 naman kung espesyalista.
