Electric provider transfers more power source in Pampanga
Tuesday, June 14, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) successfully transferred over the weekend two feeder lines to a new 69-kiloVolt switchyard in Mexico town.
The transfer of two feeder lines is part of the ongoing substation expansion and upgrading program in the area.
A power interruption to make way for the said transfer was experienced from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 11.
Affected grid customers were Linde, Wan Chiong and SKK, which were connected to the CSPA feeder and Pampanga III Electric Cooperative (PELCO III), Ingasco and Stronghold, which were connected to the PIMU feeder.
To facilitate the stringing of conductors of the said feeder lines, 69-kV lines connected to SKK and Stronghold steel plants were also shut down.
Power delivery service to customers connected to the CSPA feeder was restored at 5:20 p.m. or 40 minutes earlier than the target schedule.
Restoration of power to customers connected to the PIMU feeder, on the other hand, was delayed by 10 minutes upon the request of PELCO III, which conducted its own maintenance works in its distribution facilities.
On the same day at 3 p.m., a 300-MVA transformer in Mexico Substation was shut down to make way for hotspot correction in the equipment.
Affected customers Pampanga I Electric Cooperative, Pampanga Rural Electric Cooperative, Clark Electric Distribution Corp. and Pampanga II Electric Cooperative were duly informed of the emergency shutdown from 3 p.m. to 5:00pm.
