BACOLOR – Third District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. Sunday explained that his proposal to celebrate Mt. Pinatubo Memorial Day every June 15 is a way of remembering the province’s history.
This is his reaction to a letter to the editor published in Sun.Star Pampanga asking the significance of the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, in relation to Gonzales’ filing a bill proposing June 15 to be a special non-working holiday in Pampanga.

“People should not forget how disastrous the eruption was and how many lives and property was lost in the disaster. It would be insensitive not to remember those who also sacrificed to help those in need during that time and it would be equally disastrous if we do not remember the lessons we learned from that tragedy,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales added that he had filed House Bill 3948, an act declaring June 15 of every year as a special holiday in the province of Pampanga and Angeles City, and mandates the creation of the Mt. Pinatubo Memorial Day.
“The holiday, though still awaiting approval at the House Plenary and the Senate, would be a fitting tribute each year to remember the lessons we learned and the lives lost during the tragedy,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said he hopes that June 15 would be declared as a holiday by next year. He added that the holiday would give local governments and the people a chance to commemorate the event yearly with proper programs.
He said he is also encouraging local teachers to impart to their students the history of the eruption and highlight the lessons learned from the disaster. He said the event should also be to remind local governments and communities of the need to be always prepared for the worst possible disasters.
As his contribution to the 20th anniversary of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption, Gonzales will be leading the wreath-laying at the statue of Gov. Bren Z. Guiao, one of former leaders that responded to the disaster, at the Paskuhan Village before a start of social service programs for his district this month.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Pampanga will also celebrate the event with programs starting June 10 to18. The City Governments of San Fernando and Angeles City have also started their long list of activities aimed to drumbeat awareness on the importance of the said celebration.

The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business β a locator as business in Clark is called β so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries. The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route. Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.
