International group to visit Pinatubo, other spots – Clark Pampanga Philippines
May 26, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Land Rovers Club official and Pampanga Off Roaders Club Inc. (Porci) founder Rene Romero said Monday that a multinational group, together with international media, will visit Mt. Pinatubo’s Miyamit Falls, Sacobia Hot Springs and another spot in Zambales on May 27 to 29.
Romero, during the 20th Mt. Pinatubo Memorial Day meeting at Heroes Hall, said that Porci and Land Rovers Club had confirmed the visit and tour of the group.
“The Land Rovers Club headed by Atty. Robby Consunji has been helping in tourism promotion. He wants Sapang Uwak and Mt. Pinatubo promoted worldwide by using the club. We have confirmations from Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, United Kingdom, United States, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia who will come to Pampanga and Central Luzon who will visit the tourist spots. As a counterpart, we at Land Rovers Club and Porci will take them there,” he said.
Romero added that on Friday, May 27, the group will first visit Sapang Uwak in Porac. On the 28th, the group will proceed to Mt. Tapulao in Zambales and to Sapang Bato for the Sacobia Hot Springs.
The group is composed of about 80 people, who will later testify on what Pampanga could offer in terms of tourism, Romero said.
He said getting to the spots requires off-roading, which Porci has long advocated in its twin advocacy of racing and tourism.
“They go hand in hand. We are into off-roading now to promote tourism. As part of our Pinatubo Memorial, trekking to the Pinatubo crater is one and we hope we could help the Provincial Government led by our Governor Lilia Pineda in its program to boost tourism through our small way of off-roading,” he said.
