CAMP OLIVAS — At least 416 motor vehicles were impounded during a simultaneously two-day anti-criminality campaign conducted by Central Luzon police.
Chief Superintendent Edgardo Ladao, Central Luzon police director, said this was the result of the two-day region wide anti-criminality campaign particularly on carnapping and crimes perpetrated by men riding in tandem on motorcycles.
Ladao said that the โAnti-Carnapping and Motorcycle Riding Suspects Strategyโ, which is an innovation of the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) or the PNPโS Anti-Criminality Action Plan, is focused mainly on carnappers and motorcycle riding criminals.
He said the special teams composed of the Regional Highway Patrol Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Public Safety Battalion and their provincial counterparts were created to conduct aggressive police operations against carnapping and motorcycle riding suspects.
Last May 11, the conduct of anti-criminality campaign resulted in the impounding of 289 motor vehicles and the issuance of 436 citation tickets to violators and the arrest of 6 persons.
While on May 12, a total of 127 motor vehicles were impounded and 72 citation tickets for different violations were issued.
Ladao said that continuous intensified police operations will be carried out in the coming days to deter criminality within the region. (Ric Sapnu)
