American, Filipino friend nabbed in ‘pot session’
May 13, 2011
ANGELES CITY — Police arrested an American national and his Filipino friend while having a “pot session” inside a car parked along the MacArthur Highway here shortly before midnight on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspects as Brian Edward Sams, 33, an American tourist; and Bernard Upton Bondoc Bueno, 46, married, of 59 Saint Anthony Subdivision, Sindalan, City of San Fernando.
Chief Inspector Luisito M. Tan, Police Station 4 chief, said Sams and Bueno were charged with illegal drugs possession before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.
Investigation showed that a concerned citizen reported to the city police that he spotted two persons inside a vehicle preparing (rolling) a dope.
Three police officers dispatched to the area confirmed the veracity of the report, which led to the arrest of Sams and Bueno.
Police seized from the suspects one small sachet containing dried marijuana leaves and cigarette rolling paper.
The suspects are now detained at the Police Station 4.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., newly installed city police director, meanwhile directed police chiefs in the city to intensify their drive against criminalities and prohibited drugs.
Recomono said he has directed his men to maintain police visibility particularly in crime-prone areas.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan earlier vowed to assist the city police in its campaign against all forms of criminality and illegal drugs.
Pamintuan said he will provide equipment, motorcycles, gasoline allowance, among others to the city police. Recomono, in return, lauded and thanked the mayor for his support.

With new golf courses springing up in and around Clark Philippines and an ever-increasing patronage by tourists from neighboring South Korea, Clark Freeport is short on hotel accommodation.
Even with the addition of 27 holes in 2009 and 2010, there is an acute shortage golf tee times for at least 5-6 months each year. Local players compete with frustrated (golf) tourists from Korea and China for tee times. Unfortunately Clark Philippines doesnβt have the luxury of vast tracts of land suitable for this type of development.
Mimosa offers 36 holes of championship golf, visitors can pay and play, busy during the weekends but not that difficult to get on or join up with a group to form a 4-ball. The new FAKCC offers 27 holes of world-class golf.
