April 25, 2011
FOUNDING general manager of state-run Philippines News Agency (PNA), Jose Leetai Pavia, was laid to rest Sunday at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.
The veteran journalist was the publisher of the Bulacan-based Mabuhay newspaper and former editor in chief of the then Sun.Star Clark.
Pavia also served as executive news editor of the pre-martial law Philippines Herald and later as executive director of the Philippine Press Institute, chairman of the Board of Trustees and the anti-impunity project coordinator of the Freedom Fund for Filipino Journalists.
Pavia was the top honcho of the PNA when it was established on March 1, 1973 as the governmentβs official news agency under the then Department of Public Information. He resigned in 1978 to join a major newspaper in Bangkok.
In 1984, he rejoined PNA, again as general manager and held the position until 1987.
Pavia, 72, succumbed to lung cancer last April 18 at the University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center in Quezon City. He is survived by his wife, children, 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There are numerous opportunities for investments between US$100,000 and $500,000. These opportunities are especially attractive for semi-retirement lifestyles. The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business β a locator as business in Clark is called β so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries. The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route. Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.
Clark Freeport is one of the most attractive business propositions the Philippines has to offer for investors in many kinds of businesses from BPO, hospitality, resorts and leisure facilities to condos, retirement homes, restaurants, bars and shops.
