City to get books from non-government groups
April 18, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO β Two 40-foot container vans loaded with about 15,000 to 20,000 textbooks each, which are donations from a US-based non-government organization, will be received by the City Government sometime this month.
The 4th City Council on its 40th regular session last week approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Oscar Rodriguez to accept book donations and to enter into a memorandum of understanding with NGO Children International Philippines, Inc. (CIPI).
Councilor Jimmy Lazatin, chairman of the councilβs committee on education and good governance, who motioned for the approval of the resolution, said CIPI is a worldwide social welfare development organization based in Kansas City, Missouri in the US, recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
βThe City Government was already advised that the textbooks will arrive this month [April] as an offshoot of the incumbent leadership. The cost of the donation is estimated at about US$24,000 including freight and handling fees,β said Lazatin.
Lazatin added that CIPI has a nationwide textbook distribution program aimed at providing opportunities to enhance learning of children and youth in schools and barangays all over the country.
βThe books will be for the use of students at the City College initially until we have thoroughly inspected and reviewed their contents. The hardbound used books are for subjects in Science, Math, English and general references,β Lazatin said.

There are numerous opportunities for investments between US$100,000 and $500,000. These opportunities are especially attractive for semi-retirement lifestyles. The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business β a locator as business in Clark is called β so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries. The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route. Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.
Clark Freeport is one of the most attractive business propositions the Philippines has to offer for investors in many kinds of businesses from BPO, hospitality, resorts and leisure facilities to condos, retirement homes, restaurants, bars and shops.
