Relax and Unwind in Subic, Angeles City, Pampanga Clark Philippines – How to Improve Your Quality of Life
April 12, 2011
What is Quality of Life? Your clear understanding of the answer to this question is the key to your being able to chart the right path to a dramatic improvement in life.
Quality of life is a person’s state of physical, economic, social, emotional, and environmental well-being, including the ability to function in the ordinary task of living. It represents the degree to which a person enjoys the important possibilities of life. Possibilities result from the opportunities and limitations a person encounters in life, and reflect the interplay of personal and environmental factors.
The enjoyment of quality of life has two components: the experience of satisfaction and the possession or achievement of some positive milestone e.g. “He enjoys excellent health.” Quality of life has three domains: the conceptualization of Being, Belonging, and Becoming (Source: Quality of Life Research Unit, University of Toronto).
Being refers to the basic aspects of “who one is.” This touches the physical health, personal hygiene, nutrition, exercise, physical appearance, psychological health, personal feelings, self-appraisal, self-control, values, standards of conduct, and spiritual beliefs.
Belonging reflects a person’s match with environmental factors and includes connections with the home, workplace, neighborhood, school, and community, links with social environments, acceptance by family, friends, co-workers, and peers, and access to resources such as adequate income, health and social services, employment, education, and recreational programs.
Becoming connotes the purposeful conduct of activities designed to achieve personal goals, hopes, and wishes, from practical, leisure, and growth standpoints (e.g. day-to-day actions such as domestic activities, paid job, school or volunteer work, activities that promote relaxation and stress reduction such as card games, neighborhood walks, family visits, vacations or holidays, and activities for the improvement or maintenance of knowledge and skills.)
What then is your present quality of life?
