Philippines Clark Tips on How You Can Relax and Unwind During Your Vacation
April 12, 2011
We all have become so stressed and so goal oriented that it can be hard to actually relax and unwind. Many of us have our to do list actually built in to our brains. We live this life daily five days a week, six days a
week and for some seven days a week. Then we get vacation time and plan this perfect time with family and friends. Problem is that we don’t know what to do with ourselves. We actually have programmed ourselves so well to meet our goals, our deadlines and our responsibilities that we have forgotten how to relax and unwind. What are we to do?
First, take a deep breath. We can actually enjoy our vacation. We just might have to have to tweek our vacations a bit.
How? First, don’t expect yourself to go right into major vacation mode such as lying on the beach carefree with a cute little drink in your hand. You may not be the person that can do that type of vacation or you just might not be ready for that type of vacation, yet. You may first have to decompress a bit.
How can you decompress? Start by slowly working your way into vacation mode by planning a vacation that will keep you a bit busy.
Plan a vacation in which you are a bit active such as a vacation where you can learn a new activity, a new sport, or a vacation where you are fairly active enjoying the sites of a different area. If you are moving around and learning things you won’t become so bored and you won’t be thinking about work or those tasks back home. Plus, when you learn new things your body can release a chemical known as dopamine this chemical can make the body feel enriched which isn’t exactly feeling relax. But it does make you feel good.
Plus, all the physical activity is good for you.
Next, consider the idea of decompressing as you are packing for your vacation. Don’t pack up every electronic device you own. If you really don’t need that computer, leave it at home. Basically, all you need is a cell phone for emergencies, a GPS and a good camera.
What can you pack for entertainment? Consider going old school:
β’ Deck of playing cards
β’ Board games
β’ Sports equipment
β’ A good pair of walking shoes
