Youth council officials get P170,000 sports aid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO โ€” Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. on Monday led the distribution of P170,000 cash assistance for the ongoing sports programs of various youth councils officers here.

Gonzales distributed P10,000 cash assistance to 17 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councils with ongoing basketball and local sporting competitions during a dinner meeting with 26 SK chairmen and their councilors at the officialโ€™s home at the Morning Sun Subdivision here.

โ€œThis is part of our regular sports assistance program and we are channeling funds to the SK so that they would be the ones who will tap on the local community to ensure participation of the youth,โ€ Gonzales said.

Gonzales said he also urged other SK councils to organize their respective sporting activities this summer so that appropriate funding would be extended by his district office.

โ€œThose who have yet to receive funding would only need to put up their sporting plans in place and we would surely support it,โ€ Gonzales said, adding that he had released the funding assistance, as the councils have yet to fully receive their respective funding allocations from the city.

He said he recognizes the importance of sports and competition among the youths of the barangay in terms of promoting camaraderie and fostering health community interaction.

The event also served as a consultative meeting to address other needs and concerns of the SK officials in terms of funding and providing effective and efficient programs for the youth at the grassroots level.

Gonzales said his staff had prepared a series of programs and projects in coordination with the various SK councils to be implemented anytime soon.
