Police urged to continue ‘Araw ng Kagitingan’ observation
April 12, 2011
CAMP OLIVAS — Central Luzon Police Director Alan Purisima is still encouraging his men to extend the observance of Araw ng Kagitingan.
Purisima said the observance of such a holiday is in support of our heroes and Filipino war veterans during World War II.
He also directed police across the region to intensify pro-active measures and to be extra-cautious for possible eventualities that may occur even after the celebration.
The commemoration of the 69th anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan and the Philippine Veterans Week was held at the Mount Samat Shrine in Pilar, Bataan on Saturday.
President Benigno Aquino III was the guest of honor and speaker during the commemoration.
A wreath laying ceremony called “Paggunita sa Capas” was also held at the Capas National Shrine in Capas, Tarlac on Sunday.
