Summer job for students launched
April 12, 2011
ANGELES CITY — The City Government will launch the Special Program for the Employment of Students (Spes) this summer through its Public Employment Service Office (Peso).
Some 376 high school students from different schools, who will work from April 11 to May 10, were presented during Mondayโs flag raising ceremony at the city hall.
This yearโs Spes, which has the theme โTrabaho Para sa Kabataan Tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan,โ is a priority project of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan, who was a Spes beneficiary back in the 90s, reminded the students to take the training seriously.
Adelina Deocales, city Peso manager, said each student will be compensated P4,400. Some 60 percent of the amount will come from the local government unit and the remaining 40 percent from the Department of Labor and Employment Office.
This yearโs batch of Spes beneficiaries will be assigned to different departments of the City Government to assist in the programs of various offices.
They will be dispatched in offices like the Angeles City Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign, Barangay Affairs and Public Awareness Council, Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the City Agriculture Office.
Other offices include the Angeles City Sports Office, Youth Bureau, City Health Office, Peso, Information, Communication and Technical Division and the City Information Office.

With new golf courses springing up in and around Clark Philippines and an ever-increasing patronage by tourists from neighboring South Korea, Clark Freeport is short on hotel accommodation.
Even with the addition of 27 holes in 2009 and 2010, there is an acute shortage golf tee times for at least 5-6 months each year. Local players compete with frustrated (golf) tourists from Korea and China for tee times. Unfortunately Clark Philippines doesnโt have the luxury of vast tracts of land suitable for this type of development.
Mimosa offers 36 holes of championship golf, visitors can pay and play, busy during the weekends but not that difficult to get on or join up with a group to form a 4-ball. The new FAKCC offers 27 holes of world-class golf.
