Guv donates P4M to town college
March 26, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO β Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda has donated P4 million to a newly built school in Mabalacat town.
Pineda made the donation early this year for the construction of four classrooms and the concreting of a road leading to the Mabalacat College.
The four new classrooms will be completed in two to three months.
Aside from the new classrooms donated by Pineda, Mayor Marino Morales said the local government unit (LGU) will also build 27 classrooms.
“The additional classrooms will allow us to accommodate our less fortunate kabalens,” Morales said.
Presently, the town college has 1,500 students and 30 classrooms. Some of the courses offered are Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Information Technology and Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Students there pay about P3,500 per semester since the LGU has subsidized tuition fees by allotting P25 million of their total budget to the education sector.
Mabalacat town has a total of P500-million budget for 2011.
Morales said they are also eyeing to put up vocational courses at the Mabalacat College for out-of-school-youths.
“I am a firm believer that the education is the key to a better life and education is a necessity partnered with the right orientation of the young that the government can build a better future,” Morales said.
