Mayor: I did not snub Capitol meeting

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Mayor Oscar Rodriguez dismissed allegations that he ignored the emergency meeting called by Governor Lilia Pineda aimed at resolving carnapping incidents in the province.
“Talagang pupunta ako kung pwede lang. Na-tyempo, ‘yong particular na oras na ‘yon, two weeks before that tinanggap ko na ‘yong imbitasyon ng San Miguel Corporation (SMC),” Rodriguez said.
During the SMC event, Rodriguez said he stood as the guest of honor and speaker to more than a hundred human resource officers of the beer company across the country.

“Kung hindi ko naman pupuntahan ‘yon nakakahiya. Hindi ko style ‘yon. Mahalaga ang subject matter at una natin silang natanguan,” he said.
Governor Pineda called the emergency meeting on Thursday at the Capitol to resolve carnapping issues that recently plagued the province.
Among the Kapampangan mayors, only Rodriguez and Lubao Mayor Mylyn Cayabyab did not personally show up.
However, Rodriguez sent Rowee Freeman, his chief-of-staff, and a licensing officer to the emergency meeting on his behalf.
Immediately after the emergency meeting, Rodriguez said his core group has discussed Pineda’s call on implementing stricter licensing rules.
