City residents urged to get Fernandino card
January 29, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — A councilor said Wednesday that it is imperative now for constituents of the city to get their “Fernandino Cards.”
City Council majority floor leader Alex Patio said that following the spate of carjackings and killings perpetrated by “transients” in the city, Fernandinos should now have themselves registered at the Community Affairs Division and get their cards.
Recently, Mayor Oscar Rodriguez ordered all barangay chiefs here to monitor new, plus suspicious characters in their areas, after lairs of criminal activities were discovered by police in the city.
The Fernandino Card was hatched by Patio years ago. He renewed his call for people in the city to avail of the free card, after Rodriguez sounded the alarm for increased anti-criminality vigilance.
“Kung wala ka nito at nasita ka, it would mean hindi ka taga-San Fernando. The card is actually for safeguard while at the same time, allows a Fernandino to avail of basic services the City Government offers,” said Patio.
He stressed the importance of the card, saying all Fernandinos, from infants to adults, can get it for free.
“All they have to do is register with the Community Affairs Division. This will protect them and enable them to avail of free basic services. If there’s a better time, it’s now,” he said. (Jovi T. De Leon)
