P3-M Educational Assistance of Cong. Ebdane benefits over 6k students

IBA,Zambales –Congressman Jun Omar C. Ebdane of the Second District of Zambales released on Friday a total of P3 million in educational assistance to 6,000 students in four national high schools in the province, making good on his campaign promise to help provide for abetter future for the youth.
Ebdane, who was elected congressman in a special poll only in February, said the educational assistance was meant to give poor students a fighting chance in their everyday struggle to learn and gain better opportunities for their families.
Of the P3-million assistance, P311,500 went to 623 students at the San Antonio National High School P470,500 to 941 students at the Cabangan National High School; and P679,000 to 1,358 students at the Botolan National High School. The bulk of the fund, or a total of P1,539,000, was to given a total of 3,078 students at the Zambales National High School in this town.
Ebdane also announced the implementation of a full scholarship program for top-notch graduates from local public elementary and high schools next year, as well as a similar scholarship program in athletics. “We’re stressing the merit system in our scholarship program, as opposed to other programs that simply gave away cash,” Ebdane explained to teachers, students and parents gathered at the Zambales National High School (ZNHS) here on Friday.
We would like to motivate and inspire the youth to do their best in academics, so the top five students in scholastic standing in all our public schools will be qualified for full academic scholarship next year,” Ebdane said. ”Similarly, we will also be putting up a program for athletic scholarships so that our athletes would still receive a well-rounded education even when pursuing excellence in the field of sports, Ebdane also announced to the cheering crowd.
He said the athletic scholarship program is a brainchild of his father, Gov. Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., who is now putting up athletes dormitories at the Zambales Sports Complex in preparation for the implementation of the scholarship project. In the same the occasion, the young legislator also donated three computer units to the ZNHS and revealed his plan to equip every public school in the province with computer units. ”We want our students to be up to date in the use of computer technology, and we want them to avail of these for free,” Ebdane said.
He said that because of the lack of computer units in public schools, students still have to go to computer shops and spend for their research and school projects.But when computer units are available in public schools, not only will our students be technologically competitive, their parents will also be unburdened of having to spend extra for the use of computer time,” Ebdane added.
Meanwhile, teachers led by Zambales School Division Superintendent Malcolm Garma expressed their gratitude and praise for the congressman’s scholarship program for the youth in the province.
Charido Arrojado, a teacher of 19 years, said their school, the teachers and the students have already greatly benefited from Ebdane’s programs despite the short time that he has been in office. “Marami na siyang programa, hindi lang para sa akademya kundi pati sa sports. At maraming kabataan ang natutulungan sa mga programang ito,” Arrojado said.
