Davao City mayor is pregnant
DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio confirmed on Wednesday that she is eight weeks pregnant and was told to restrain from stressful physical activities.
Duterte-Carpio said she was very happy when her physician confirmed her pregnancy.
“Too early to announce but daghan na nakahibalo na naga-confirm (It’s too early to announce but many people who know are already confirming the news),” the mayor said.
The mayor earlier said that if God permits, she would prefer getting pregnant over running for any position in the 2013 elections.
Duterte-Carpio said Wednesday that she has not considered her plans for the next elections yet.
“Wala pa baya nako gihuna-huna ang filing (I haven’t even thought of filing for candidacy),” she said.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently announced that the filing of candidacy for the 2013 polls will be on October 1-5.
The mayor’s priorities now are the proposed annual budget for 2013, her third and last state of the city address for this term and the health of her baby.
She said she doesn’t have any gender preference for her baby nor had she thought of a baby name at this early. All that she is praying for is a healthy baby.
“Murag wait and see pa gyud mi (It’s a wait and see for us). It’s too early to be happy,” the mayor said. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
