CLARK FREEPORT — The much-awaited “Pasko sa Clark” will kick off on December 16 and will feature a variety of family-oriented activities.
Celebrating the Yuletide Season inside the sprawling Clark Freeport is nowhere synonymous with grand celebrations or unabashed merrymaking but rather a showcase of skill, talent, culture, and heritage.
The discovery of the singing prowess of what could probably be the next Charice or the next Arnel Pineda will be showcased on December 18 at the Clark Parade Grounds.
Noemi Garcia, manager of the Clark Development Corporation (CDC)’s Tourism Promotions Department, said an elimination round for the Clark Idol Quest was conducted Wednesday at the Event Center of SM City Clark.
Garcia added that CDC’s four-day “Pasko sa Clark” is expected to showcase the culinary and handicraft-making skills of the Kapampangan people.
Garcia said among the grand activities included in the celebration is the “Apag Pasku – The Suman Making Challenge.”
Garcia noted that Pampanga is known for its suman (rice cake), which is a popular kakanin (snack) during the Yuletide Season. She said Apag Pasku will be held on Friday, December 17, 4 p.m., at the Clark Parade Grounds.
Also, Garcia said Pasko sa Clark will also feature a Belen-making contest and a colorful and lively Giant Lantern Exhibition courtesy of artisans from the City of San Fernando.
Judging night for the Belen-making contest, Garcia said, is set on December 16 during the “Pasko sa Clark” opening program. The lantern exhibition, meanwhile, will be held on Sunday, December 19.
All events for Pasko sa Clark will be held at the Parade Grounds, Garcia said.
She added that the other activities for the Christmas event include a chorale competition, launching of the “Pasko sa Clark Super Sale,” lighting of the Clark Freeport Giant Christmas Tree, fireworks display, and live band performances, all to be held on December 16.
December 17 will also be highlighted by a job fair, starting at 10 a.m., a modern dance competition at 6 p.m., a whole-day Christmas bazaar, live band, and a grand fireworks display in the evening.
Saturday, December 18, will feature a car and motorbike show at 10 a.m., Clark Idol Quest finals night, a whole-day Christmas bazaar, live bands, and fireworks.
The culmination of the event will be highlighted by the awarding ceremonies for the car and motorbike show, the finals night for the modern dance competition, live bands, a whole-day Christmas bazaar, and fireworks display. ( Reynaldo G. Navales)
