Guv, Butil pledge support for farmers in agri-town

STA. ANA — Governor Lilia Pineda and Butil party-list Representative Agapito Guanlao on Friday expressed support for farmers of this town.
The two said they will continuously extend programs and development projects for the improvement of the agricultural sector here.
Pineda, who attended the Farmers’ Congress here, gave one farm tractor and promised to facilitate the construction of a solar dryer for farmers of the town.

The governor was accompanied by Mayor Rommel Concepcion, Board Members Monina Laus, Trina Dizon and Rolly Macalino.
The farmer’s congress is aimed at addressing the needs of the agricultural sector here to provide the necessary interventions for agricultural development.
Representative Guanlao, for his part, said they are drafting the plans for the construction of a multipurpose facility for farmers of the town.
According to him, the million-peso project will include the necessary facilities and technologies for the processing of farm outputs.
“I am urging the farmers and the Municipal Government here to look for a suitable location where to build this facility. This multipurpose facility will include dryers and will also serve as a focal point for various farmer programs in the town,” he said.
Guanlao said the program will greatly help local farmers here and provide an opportunity to increase farm outputs.
The event also featured the awarding of the “Ulirang Magsasaka Ning Balen Sta. Ana,” which honored the most outstanding farmers of the town.
The awardees were chosen based on their accomplishments as farmers and the effects of good farming practices on their families.
The awardees included Victor Gonzales of Sto. Rosario, Francisco Selis of San Agustin, Alfredo Pangan of San Pablo, Rodrigo Maniago of San Roque, and Eduardo Pangan of San Pablo. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
